China’s shale gas output will reach 5 billion cubic metres in 2015, the People’s Daily newspaper reported, citing a researcher from the Development Research Centre of the State Council.
Output will reach 30 bcm in 2020, accounting for 15% of annual domestic gas output.
China had set a target in 2012 to produce 6.5 bcm in 2015.
